Generational Nutrition in Dogs

Absolutely! In fact, we recommend that the first dry food the litter of puppies get has Fido-Vite SportzDog on it. One reason is that a probiotic/prebiotic combination added to a diet change will limit the negative effects of that diet change. There is no diet change bigger than going from mother’s milk to dry food! We recommend feeding Fido-Vite SportzDog for up to at least a year of age to positively influence the development of that puppy and reduce veterinary costs over the life of that dog.
Can we influence that puppy’s health with Fido-Vite before we start the weaning process?
The answer is a definitive “Yes!” This is where we start to get into what we call generation nutrition. We know that if we have the bitch on Fido-Vite SportzDog throughout the gestation period, we will have healthier more even puppies and the whelping process will be faster and the puppies with suckle more aggressively. This leads to healthier puppies at weaning time!
Is it possible to positively affect the future litter before the bitch is even bred?
Here again the answer is “Yes!” In any animal, there is an internal mechanism that says, if times are bad, I better not reproduce or I better have a small litter because I may not be able to feed my babies! When you feed your female Fido-Vite SportzDog for 2-3 months prior to breeding, you are sending the signal that times are good and your female will be able to feed the large litter of healthy pups!
Do the benefits stop here?
Here the answer is “No!” The puppies who have come through this regimen will go to be better mothers and stud dogs will have healthier semen quality! As Bill Hillmann once said, “It is almost as if Fido-Vite SportzDog becomes part of the dog’s pedigree!” Is SportzDog affecting genetics of these dogs genetically? No, but SportzDog is helping these dogs express the full potential of their phenotype through generational nutrition.
