Frequently Asked Questions

Does Fido-Vite contain any preservatives?

Fido-Vite contains no BHA, BHT or ethoxyquin. Fido-Vite is preserved with mixed tocopherals (a source of Vitamin E) and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Fido-Vite also has a very low moisture content (< 8%).

Fido-Vite contains yeast. Is my dog at increased risk of a yeast infection?

No, Fido-Vite contains a totally different type of yeast. The prebiotics of yeast origin in Fido-Vite help support healthy intestinal lactobacillus that help prevent over-growth of candida yeast that causes yeast infections.

How safe is Fido-Vite for my dog?

Fido-Vite is very safe. No dog food is totally immune from dogs having allergies to it. This is also the case with Fido-Vite, but we have done our best to avoid ingredients that would cause allergies. No one ingredient makes up more than 15% of Fido-Vite. We have had several reports of dogs and cats ripping open a bag of Fido-Vite and gorging themselves on Fido-Vite with no major problems.

If I have a perfectly healthy dog, what will I see from using Fido-Vite?

Fido-Vite nutritionally supports a healthy stool, a healthy coat and a healthy activity level.

Will feeding Fido-Vite help control Giardia?

Fido-Vite contains yucca schidigera, which is one of richest sources of saponins. Saponins have been shown to have anti-protozoal activity like giardia lamblia. (McAllister,TA; et al. Studies on the use of Yucca schidigera to control giardiasis. Vet Parasit. 2001;97:85-99). Fido-Vite helps supports a healthy dog and is a good complement to a veterinarian recommended treatment plan for giardia lamblia.

I see that Fido-Vite products contain added Calcium. Should I be worried about adding too much Calcium to my dog's diet?

No, Fido-Vite products only contain only enough calcium to balance out the calcium to phosphorous ratio. An ounce Fido-Vite is equivalent to an ounce of a large breed puppy food in calcium and phosphorous

Can you give me a quick explanation on the differences in Fido-Vite, Flexx, and Sportz Dog?

Fido-Vite and Flexx are the same for the exception of glucosamine and chondroitin. Flexx has glucosamine and chondroitin and Fido-Vite does not. Sportz Dog is designed primarily for working and show dogs, but also will have added health supporting benefits for reproduction, puppies and some older dogs primarily due to increased levels of omega-3. Sportz Dog has higher levels of glucosamine and chondroitin, vitamins, trace minerals and L-Carnitine as well.
